Modernization, Yelp’s 2020 vision

Role: Lead product designer

I work with a team of 3 designers, 1 product manager, and 6 engineers, focused on bringing the vision of Yelp 2020’s brand strategy, product architecture, and visual/UI design to inform the direction of the current product. Trends in Yelp’s internal market research showed problems rooted in user sentiment, and vast opportunities to bring innovation to the product. The team is tasked with finding opportunities to bridge our gaps and thinking holistically as an entire product.

Bringing the future to the present

I worked with a research lead & the team to concept & test prototypes of new strategies, new visual language, and large UX changes to our existing consumer products. I currently lead the design efforts to strategize & execute Yelp’s “modernization” design launch for 2019.

A modern, fresh product

There are two parallel areas to tackle as part of Modernization in 2019 — 1) information architecture re-design to align with our business goals & strategy and 2) modern UI achieved through a new design system. Part of the results of Modernization include launches on iOS, Android, Web as well as rolling out a visual language.
